COMPREHENSIVE THERAPY PROGRAMS.
A program designed to help women to cope with the aches and pains that can accompany pregnancy. Whether it's low back pain, hip pain, wrist pain, ankle pain, general fatigue and soreness, we have seen it all. No two pre-natal programs are ever the same. We adapt and modify to each patients' needs and levels.
Elbow & Wrist Treatments
Carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, wrist and elbow strains are all treated at Merrimack Valley Physical Therapy. All pre and post surgical wrist conditions are treated at our facility.
Pre-Teen and Teenagers are prime candidates for developing scoliosis during their growth spurts. Most "S" curves are subtle, some are more pronounced. Not every "S" curve can be 100% corrected. A correct stretching and strengthening program, however, may be able to halt progression and lessen the effects.
Utilizing thermal modalities to help ease the pain, placing you in a correct stretching program and gradually working in strengthening exercises, our Whiplash program has shown tremendous success in helping patients recover. Our goal is to wean you off the collar, improve your neck and upper spine mobility and gradually progress through a strengthening program.
Functional Movement Screening (FMS)
The FMS is a tool used to identify asymmetries which result in functional movement deficiencies. The FMS aims to identify imbalances in mobility and stability during seven fundamental movement patterns.
Shoulder & Rotator Cuff Injuries
Whether injured at work, playing sports, doing yard work, our shoulder program is designed to help reduce your pain and focus on restoring your shoulder and scapular range of motion and increasing the strength of the entire shoulder complex.
The Merrimack Valley Physical Therapy staff is trained with handling all sports injuries from shoulder separations, knee injuries, ankle sprains, hamstring pulls, tennis elbow, golf elbow, etc. Our staff is also trained in sports taping techniques. Regardless of the sport, our goal is to have you return to your optimal level.
Part boot camp part palliative care, our Back School program focuses not only in returning your neck, low back and core to it’s original level, but to exceed that level. While we want your back to be stronger, we want to make it feel better. Our staff is trained in helping get that neck pain or back pain under control to maximize your sessions here.
Pediatric Sports Injuries
From spraining an ankle, twisting a knee, hurting a shoulder or wrist, their are many bumps and bruises that our young athletes can sustain. Many of our younger and more elite athletes also stay on after they recover to continue on a strengthening program.
Dry needling is a technique physical therapists at MVPT use for the treatment of pain and movement impairments. The technique uses a "dry" needle, one without medication or injection, inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle.
Post Partum Program
After delivering of your bundle of joy, you may have residual pain, weakness and difficulty walking or sitting up from a chair. Your OB/GYN may have put weight restrictions on you. At Merrimack Valley Physical Therapy we are trained to help you get back on your feet.
Our Whiplash, Back Pain, Shoulder and Knee programs can be just the remedy for helping you recover quicker. We can also help with filling out the voluminous insurance paper work. Our goal is to help make this episode as stress free as possible for you.
High School Sports Injuries
We include sports specific drills with each program, so that the athlete can return to their sport as prepared as possible. Many of the high school athletes have stayed on after their rehab was complete and continued their exercise program under our supervision.
Neck and Lumbar
Most injuries that occur with back and neck areas are due to poor positioning at work resulting in weakness and pain. Some of the most common complaints we hear are stiff neck, sciatica pain, and lower back pain. The big focus for these areas are strengthening and postural muscles with treatments using manual or mechanical traction, use of manual skills for joint mobilizations, and focus on use of soft tissue massage to improve overall mobility.
